Aveda Names New Global Educator

Janell Geason, a two-time NAHA Makeup Artist of the Year, will lead Aveda makeup education.

Aveda has announced the appointment of Janell Geason to the position of global educator, Aveda Makeup. Geason will join the Global Technical Education Team, reporting to Jeff Saylor, executive director technical education for Aveda. Geason is a longtime mentor and educator in the Aveda network.

“We are delighted to add Janell’s world class technical ability and sincere commitment to the environment to the Aveda team,” says Saylor. “Her wealth of creative experience and innate understanding of the professional beauty industry make her a natural fit.”

Geason will oversee technical education for Aveda Makeup, including curriculum development and implementation; the Aveda Makeup Purefessional team of in-field educators; as well as the Aveda Freelance Advisor group. She will collaborate with research and development, marketing and design teams to bring new products and imagery to market.

Janell Geason began her career at the Horst Cosmetology School in Minneapolis, MN,nearly 25 years ago and has worked within the Aveda network since. She is regarded for her editorial work and is known for her ability to connect with and motivate students. Janell was named Makeup Artist of the Year in 2008 and 2009 at the North American Hairstyling Awards and regularly contributes to the creation of seasonal trend collections with the Aveda Artistic Team. Her work can be seen in publications such as Elle and Lucky magazines. Her celebrity client list includes America Ferrera, Cheryl Tiegs, Jerry Seinfeld and Kevin Costner.
